    The Neighborhood
The Boulder-Golden area provides a vibrant setting in which to perform geophysical research. Members of the GGL enjoy contact with scientists at a number of other departments and research institutes at CU, Colorado School of Mines, and neighboring governmental laboratories. These include:

  • the Department of Applied Mathematics,
  • the Department of Astrophysical and Planetary Sciences (APS),
  • the College of Engineering,
  • the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Environmental Sciences (CIRES),
  • the Colorado Center for Chaos and Complexity (CCCC),
  • the Geophysics Group in the Department of Geological Sciences,
  • the High Altitutde Observatory (HAO) which is part of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR),
  • the Joint Institute for Laboratory Astrophysics (JILA),
  • the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP),
